Talking Health with Erika Heynatz

Erika Heynatz is a much loved Australian television personality and model, who lives a healthy lifestyle and chooses to do so as naturally as possible. Erika is the ambassador for The Yantra Mat – a product which she incorporates into her day to help her de-stress.

We were lucky enough to speak to Erika to find out all her health tips, and we even asked her what she eats for breakfast!

Breakfast

½ lemon in warm water

I glass of fresh beetroot, lemon, carrot, celery, ginger, kale juice

1/3 cups of oats with cinnamon/nutmeg and berries

2 boiled eggs

Black coffee

Snack 1

BSC Protein Shake with added Acai powder and Chai seeds

Veggie sticks and hummus

Lunch

Chicken salad or sashimi salad

I litre water with Metagenics greens

Snack 2

Almonds, fruit, slice of cheese

Dinner

Salmon/Steak and veggies

Red Wine

Before bed

Protein shake with glutamine powder and spoon of peanut butter

Exercise:

I thrive on variety when it comes to exercise. I live by the beach so I do soft sand runs, surfing and paddle ski. I hit the gym 5 times a week for weights, spin classes, and I do occasional bikram yoga. I have been doing XtendBarre Pilates classes for about 3 months, which is dance mixed with Pilates with a strong cardio component I’ve noticed a real change in strength, tone and posture/core strength.

Tell us a little bit about the Yantra Mat and why you decided it is a good fit for your lifestyle?



I am a high energy person that has trouble slowing down and difficulty settling my mind for a restful sleep. It’s not time or cost effective for me to see a masseuse or visit an acupuncturist every week. The Yantra Mat gives me the benefits of a professional treatment in only 20 minutes in the convenience of my own home.

Best of all I can travel with my mat, use it any time I like to relieve muscle tension and insomnia, and even incorporate it into my yoga routine for enhanced benefits. I am sleeping more deeply, have experienced fantastic pain relief, and have much more focused energy.

What is your number one health tip?



My number one health tip is to remedy the stress levels in your life. With so much stimulation in our lives, rest and relaxation is the key to being more connected, productive and dynamic in the world. 20 minutes of meditation and time out with some acupressure on the Yantra Mat is a powerful reboot for the body and mind.

What health and fitness new year’s resolutions should we stick to?

Balance is always worth striving for. People tend to have incredibly ambitious resolutions, which is great, but difficult to adhere to! Aim for balance in diet, work, lifestyle and behaviour and your chances of success are very real –  and the joy of achieving this goal almost effortless!

What does being a woman mean to you?

Independent thought, choice, action…. freedom of expression and the feminine power to nurture and create anything.
