Parko’s Pacers Mocktails

Dry July is fast approaching and what better way to celebrate in style and still be able to share a glass with your friends than with mocktails. Today we bring you recipes created by world champion surfer Joel Parkinson (Parko).


Parko was recently  named champion of the “Champions Drink Responsibly” campaign encouraging 18-29 year olds to pace themselves on a night out and take a time-out with one of Parko’s Pacers between rounds. In the case of Dry July it gives people the chance to choose a tasty mocktail every round and help raise funds for cancer.

Parko’s four pacers are built around delicious fresh fruit and are named after world famous surf breaks.

So if you are participating in Dry July or would just like to try out some different mocktails these are definitely worth a look.

Parkos Pacers


Beach Break

  • 50ml pineapple juice
  • 100ml coconut water
  • 10ml pineapple purée (can use fresh pineapple and muddle if no purée)

 Point Break

  • 30ml lime juice
  • 100ml soda water
  • 2 teaspoons castor sugar
  • 8 mint leaves

 Cloud Break

  • 50ml pineapple juice
  • 100ml orange juice
  • 15ml lime juice
  • 1 lemon wedge

 Reef Break

  • 50ml beef consume
  • 100ml tomato juice
  • 10ml lemon juice
  • A pinch each of salt and pepper
  • 3 drops of Tabasco sauce

“Champions Drink Responsibly” is a campaign introduced by Bacardi Limited in April 2008 to spread the message of responsible drinking to young adults. Every year there has been a ‘Champion’ ambassador to spread the message that it’s okay to take a ‘Time-Out’ from an alcoholic round on a night out, this year marks the first time that local champs have been named in different countries to make the message more relevant country by country.

Joel ‘Parko’ Parkinson, Australian professional surfer and winner of the ASP World Championship Tour Surfing Title in 2012 is a great role model who personally believes in responsible drinking.

Joel developed Parko’s Pacers to launch the campaign and they will be rolled out in selected Australian bars and clubs throughout 2014 and 2015.
