I have just woken up and found myself in Candle heaven. I came here to tell you all about the candles I’ve had burning in my house recently and thought to do a bit of background and research so that I could tell you a bit about dusk as well as the candles I’ve been burning.
It seems I was sucked into a vortex of aromatherapy, scent and paraffin wax and I have only just managed to drag myself out.
dusk are a Perth based company specialising in candles and now branching out into other methods of ensuring a fresh and pleasant smelling house. The manufacturing plant in Perth hand pours over 6 million candles a year – WOW! That is a pretty amazing figure I would think.
Other products bearing the dusk name need to be outsourced and dusk work closely with the manufacturers to ensure that all of the products meet their high quality standards.

The dusk range is amazing. There are lots of different fragrance choices and almost as many product options. You can go large, small, taper, votive, container – there really is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
dusk candles are made from high quality food grade paraffin wax, which is non toxic and has undergone extensive testing. It has been classified non-hazardous, non-toxic as well as classified as non-carcinogenic and stable.
The candles also use lead-free wicks, though some of the candles have a fine zinc core to keep the wick upright – these are safe and non-toxic.
And that’s enough about the company I think, now onto my gorgeous smelling house these last few days. I have 4 dusk candles that I’m test driving at the moment and my house smells amazing.
The Beeswax Pillar Candle
These candles burn clean and bright, and they are made from all natural wax produced by honey bees. The Beeswax Pillar Candles deliver a quite subtle, sweet scent of honey to permeate your house. Always be sure to use a suitable tray or pillar holder which are available from dusk, though are sold separately.
Votives melt into a complete liquid so be sure to use a suitable votive holder or you will find yourself with a waxy mess.
The Parisian fragrance is reminiscent of fine French perfume and will fill your house with the subtle scent of musk. Burn time was said to be 14 hours. To get this you really do need to be mindful of the burning instructions. You could easily get 14 hours out of these candles, in my opinion, as long as you ensure the candle isn’t parked in a draught and you don’t burn for more than 3 hours at a time.
Parisian candles can be enjoyed in 2 jar sizes, 3 pillar sizes, in a container, as a melt, votive, orb and tealight.
Casablanca Pillar – Medium
This pillar will burn for up to 40 hours, as long as you follow the burning instructions. The candle is made of the highest quality wax to ensure that the gorgeous scent is thrown into every corner of your home. The scent is spices mixed with jasmine and amber. Casablanca is quite a subtle scent that will have you imagining African sunsets – not that I’ve ever been anywhere near an African sunset or what one would smell like. It does have a scent that conjures images of far away places though. This is one of the Destinations range – Destinations transport you across the globe without leaving home.
Casablanca is available in 3 pillar sizes as well as a melt, a votive and a container.
Osaka Pillar – Large
The large pillar candle has a burn time of 85 hours as long as you follow burning instructions: trim your wick, keep away from draughts and don’t burn for longer than 3 hours at a time.
This gorgeous pink candle was inspired by the weeping branches of the cherry blossoms in Japan. Experience the sweet, musky fragrance with a flowery hint that will follow you throughout the house. This is a scent that will carry and get into all the corners of your house. Even better is that it is a scent that will linger long after the candle has been extinguished.
The Osaka fragrant candle is available in 3 pillar sizes, as a melt, a votive, tealights, an orb and in a container for various prices.

My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
