Outdoor Entertaining

The weather is getting warmer and it is nearly that time of the year when it is perfect to throw open the doors and entertain outside. If you are looking to turn your outdoor area into a fabulous space here are few essentials to consider:

First you will need some comfortable weatherproof outdoor furniture. Do you need a table or does your dining area open up to your outdoor area? Perhaps you would prefer a sofa for your guests to relax on whilst the chef is grilling on the Barbeque. Or maybe a daybed for you to relax on whilst enjoying the sunny weather.

Why not consider the latest outdoor decorating item an outdoor rug. They are made from a durable polypropylene material that is weatherproof. It defines the space and adds a sense of blending the indoors with the outdoors.

Along with some scatter cushions on your sofa or daybed, they are a great way to add a pop of colour.

I love to add a focal point that can be seen from the inside so that it draws you to the outside entertaining space.

A water feature or a feature tree beautifully illuminated will look stunning. In the cooler weather it could be a fire bowl or maybe the luxury of a built-in fireplace.

Next we need to provide some cooking facilities. You can go from a simple Barbeque to a kitchen equal to your indoor kitchen and everything in between. Be sure to have the Barbeque set up with adequate lighting and in a position where the chef can chat with guests.

My dream is to add a Pizza Oven to our outdoor area. Imagine the Pizza parties you could have. You can get some smaller versions of these now.

To set a fabulous table setting use lots of colour with your tablecloth and crockery. Add a beautiful bunch of spring flowers on the table. Think of using colourful plastic buckets full of ice for holding drinks.

Finish off the outdoor area with candles, lanterns or tealights in votives. And don’t forget some music to add to the atmosphere.
